Credentialing Specialist- Patient Business Services
Chief Purpose of the Position
This position acts as a liaison between VCU Dental Care providers and dental or health insurance providers to process new enrollment applications, renewals and updates. This position is responsible for follow-up to ensure that information is submitted and processed in a timely manner. This position will interact regularly with the administrative department to obtain malpractice insurance information, with department administrators to obtain licensure information, and with providers to obtain personal information. This position also perform other revenue cycle duties, including claim submission, remittance posting, and aged claim follow-up.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required
-Proficiency in Windows-Based computer software.
-Working knowledge of dental benefit plan information, and dental terminology.
-Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in an open-office, team-oriented environment.
-Ability to work in a paperless environment.
Education level and experience
-High School Diploma or GED. Advanced degree in healthcare or business administration strongly preferred.
-Minimum of two to four (2-4) years of experience preferably in a medical staff office, large medical group, medical billing organization or insurance company in a credentialing capacity.
-CPCS (Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist) preferred, but not required.
Hiring Range: $17 - $21 (Depending on level of related experience)
