Contact Center Agent

Chief Purpose of this Position

This position serves as a primary point of communication for the patients of VCU Dental Care’s practices. Utilizing superior customer service skills, the agent will accept inbound calls and place outbound calls related to both patient access and revenue cycle management. The agent may also provide live chat services to online customers. Communication duties include the following:

  • Providing general information about services offered by VCU Dental Care
  • Scheduling screening, urgent care, evaluation, and consultation appointments for new patients.
  • Addressing billing questions and accepting payment for services rendered.
  • Contacting patients who have expressed interest in the practice via outreach events.
  • Contacting insurance companies to verify benefits and gather coverage information.
  • Coordinating with clinical areas to properly resolve inquiries.

As this is a flex-duty position, the Agent will provide services to multiple splits based on volume and need. The agent may also provide support to clinical areas in completing office-related tasks related to patient correspondence and clinical documentation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:

Excellent customer service skills, especially in a Call Center/Contact Center environment.

Excellent language and grammar skills, both spoken and written.

Ability to speak at a comfortable volume for several hours during the day.

Proficiency in Windows-Based computer software.

Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in an open-office, team-oriented environment.

Ability to work in a paperless environment.

Working knowledge of dental practice terminology and procedures preferred.

Working knowledge of oral surgery practice terminology and procedures preferred.

Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred.

Education level and experience required:

High-school diploma or equivalent.

2 years’ experience in a customer service or medical/dental office environment.

Hiring Range: up to $18 per hour, based on relevant work experience.
